The race for seat in B School is getting started. Here is the list of Business Schools in India in which you can apply from CAT 2012, XAT 2013, MAT and other management entrance exams. The trick here is to know and target business schools according to the cut off. This ensures that you don not miss a seat in CAT 2012. Why to select early slot dates for CAT 2012

CAT is the most important paper in MBA entrance exams in India.  CAT is the hope for anyone who aspires to begin his corporate career. The importance of CAT exam cannot be quantified. I can only measure the value of CAT through the level of competition and preparation one does for CAT exam. Thus every internal and external factor which influences the preparation or result of CAT is critical for every serious CAT aspirant.

Internal factors for CAT preparation are those which are largely dependent upon you.

• Level of seriousness for CAT.
• Level of preparation for CAT.
• Time allotted towards CAT preparation.
• Judicious/Naive decisions about choosing books and coaching for CAT after doing/not doing research about them.
•  Emotions attached towards CAT exam.

External factors are those which are not in your control.

•  Particular situations/happenings.
• CAT exam pattern.

How to Choose a CAT exam date slot 

I would like to highlight the importance and advantages of choosing an early CAT exam date. This is an internal factor determining your success in CAT.

1. Date and Slot of your choice

Early registration would guarantee an exam slot date of your choice. All the slots are available and you can select it according to your preference.

2. City of your choice

There are chances that if you do not fill the slot someone else will. You may not get a slot in your own city. Then you will have to travel. Travelling is to be avoided to further avoid fatigue before the CAT. So go register yourself.

3. Waiting for Form at Axis Bank

Once the CAT 2012 date comes closer the cues for CAT forms/voucher at Axis bank can be sighted from outside the bank. Students running in and around the bank for the CAT form can be seen. So try to avoid that rush and get the voucher before that happens.

4. Focus on CAT preparation

Once you are done with CAT registration you can set targets and concentrate on CAT. Otherwise you will plan the date once you are confident and at that moment you may not get your preferred day/slot and even center.

CAT Registration will begin on 30^th July 2012. You can buy forms from Axis bank branches from tomorrow. The last date for sale of vouchers is 17^th September 2012. The CAT application for IIMs is worth 1600 Rs.

CAT 2012 Forms

CAT ( Common Admission Test ) 2012 notification is out. As reported by us earlier on CAT 2012 exam dates CAT forms are out. You will apply to all 13 IIMs by this one voucher. Here is the process to apply to IIMs through CAT explained by flow chart diagram. Prometric is the test developer and will deliver the test this year also. 

CAT vouchers will be available on selected Axis bank branchers from 30th July 2012 to 17th September 2012. The CAT test will be conducted for 21 days from 11th October 2012 to 6th November 2012. Candidates can register for CAT 2012 from 30th July 2012 to 19th September 2012.


There are no significant changes in CAT 2012 from previous year CAT. CAT 2012 will have 2 sections 

• Quantitative Ability & Data Interpretation
• Verbal Ability & Logical Reasoning

The total time allotted for each section is 70 minutes and the total questions in each sections are 30. Thus a total time of 140 minutes and 60 questions. Once the time for the first section ends, candidates cannot go back to previous section . 

CAT Tutorial 

There is a 15 minute tutorial in the starting of the exam. CAT takers should utilize this time and get used to the test. These 15 minutes are provided separately and are not part of the 140 minutes of CAT test. This time is for CAT takers to familiarize to CAT navigation, answering questions and using the computer at the test center.

CAT 2012 to be conducted from October 11 to November 6 

CAT 2012 exam will be conducted from October 11 to November 6, 2012. Dates have been  11 days earlier this time for CAT 2012 Exam. The Common Admission Test (CAT) 2012 is being conveyed by Professor S S S Kumar . CAT 2012 has two sections. Each section in CAT 2012 will have 30 questions to answer. The time limit for each section for CAT 2012 is 1 hour and 10 minutes.

CAT 2012 sections will include Quantitative Ability and Data Interpretation in one section and , Verbal Ability and Logical Reasoning in the other. A test taker must complete a section within the stipulated time period of 1 hour and 10 minutes. After this time the candidate cannot go back to the section. The first section in CAT 2012 will be of Quantitative Ability and Data Interpretation, and then followed by Verbal Ability and Logical Reasoning.

CAT 2012 preparation will determine your actions for many years of your life. Your endeavor will create opportunities for your success in CAT.  How to crack CAT 2012? These are some tips, plans and strategies for your CAT preparation.

1. Familiarize yourself with CAT Pattern: You should be well aware of the sections in CAT. CAT is mainly into 3 sections Quantitative Ability, Verbal Ability, and Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning. You should know how CAT previous year papers have shown changes in last 5-6 years. This will get to know about CAT pattern and syllabus.

2. Accept your Weakness: You may be good and some topics compared to other. You should not run from it, instead work on it on daily basis. You will develop strength out of it once you take it head on.  You should start taking easy tests. Go back to school books and build basics brick by brick.

CAT application forms are not yet out for sale. CAT 2011 forms were out on 17th August 2011 and sold till 1st October 2011. The bank assigned to sale the application form is Axis Bank. CAT was taken in a window of 20 days from 22nd October-18th November 2011.


CAT form cost for the year 2011 was Rs. 1600 (800 Rs for SC/ST).  You can buy CAT forms from an Axis Bank branch listed at CAT IIM website.
